Dr. Tadashi Kato
Dr. Tadashi Kato, the instructor of Tai Chi and Qigong, is a native of Japan and has over 20 years of training in various forms of martial arts, Tai Chi, and Qigong. He learned Chinese Qigong from Master Kaku (Beijin Physical Education University), Japanese Qigong from Master Muraki (Tanden Breathing Institute), and learned Tai Chi from Master Nutter and various other instructors. He received Master of Arts in Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics from the University of Tokyo in 1989 and received Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology from Ohio University in 2000. In his psychophysiological research, Dr. Kato discovered that both Tai Chi and Qigong have positive effects on cardiovascular and autonomic nervous system activities. Dr. Kato has taught Tai Chi and Qigong in New York, Maryland, and West Virginia. He is also on faculty at Fairmont State University and at Morgantown Dance Studio where he teaches Tai Chi and Qigong classes regularly. He is also involved in American Dance Therapy Association and his research paper on the effectiveness of Qigong has been accepted for its Annual Conference in Brooklyn NY this year.
